As I stand on top of a multi story building in the Navy yard,
Im finding it really hard,
To realize that,
The borough once known,
For cheesecake and pizza,
Is now home,
To the world's largest Rooftop farm,
Wow, Brooklyn has come so far,
From empty lots filled with rats and rodents,
Drug addicts smoking,
Out in the open,
Abandoned warehouses, cats and dogs,
Shoot outs in the front of buildings after dark,
Now on top of some of these same Brooklyn buildings,
You can find roof tops full of crops,
A healthy place to shop,
For fresh vegetables and fruit,
If you want to know the truth,
Our future is in green roofs,
With concerns of feeding our growing population,,
And our climate constantly changing,
We must all come together as one nation
To build more of these safe havens for vegetation,
Not only do they provide us with healthy food,
But they help us reduce our use of fossil fuels,
So for cities across the world this is living proof,
You no longer have an excuse,
Because if Brooklyn can have green roofs,
So can you,
Don't Waste Our Planet
