What is a Moderator? A Genius moderator is a contributor who has proven that they can both consistently contribute high quality annotations, bios, articles, and effectively moderate the Genius community while inspiring and mentoring other contributors to do the same. Moderators are also responsible for managing user roles and should be very critical of who they choose to bring into the editorial and moderation teams.
Moderators are the most trusted and respected Genius users and are held to an extremely high standard. A moderator must command the full trust and respect of the Genius community and make active contributions to set the standard for content quality and ensure that Genius remains inclusive and innovative. Moderators who do not make active contributions for more than a three months period should get in touch with staff, or otherwise step down from their role. If the moderator does not take action, they may lose their privileges. Moderator Permissions • Purple badge

• What makes a good coach/mentor? How many contributors have become editors/mediators under my guidance?
• What makes a great song page?
• What makes a great editor/mediator?
• What great initiatives have I been part of, either in terms of creating cool stuff or growing the community?
If you feel you can answer those questions with confidence, hit up a moderator or community staff member and they will provide you with the proper guidance. Likewise, if you feel like a moderator is not serving the community to the best of their ability, you should contact a staff member.
