That's the weird thing about kids
Our parts were simple they just did what they did
Tails & whiskers a tongue forked like a snake
An insect whose shiny black back never breaks
Uh oh, now our bed is so small we can't find it at all
We used to sleep at the foot of a willow
A sleeping bag & a damp old pillow
You rubbed dirt in my hair & leaves in my eyes
So i could see a little better & hear alright
Uh oh, now your bed is so small
It got lost
At night you took me up to the roof by the moon
Close enough to reach it with the aid of a spoon
We scooped it like ice cream, filled up our plates
& you looked just like the bite of the night that i ate
Then the sky went dark; i nearly cried
Our rounded little bellies tugging at the tide
Borrow from the web of a neighboring spider
Tie that string around my finger as a reminder
That thick black night pa**ed without any warning
& you were gone, bed & all
The next morning
