howling inside this cold cage
my heart folds into a grain of dust
tilting my head up I see the man with keys
water and to food to eat
I stop howling
my tail wags itself
the only way I can refrain from devouring flesh bone grey
is because an hour a day I can run and play
any more isn't a role to stage
so it must be okay
the air pushes back a smile on my face
as my my legs launch me into open space
the boundless gra**y field freezes time
erases the whimpers in whispering binds
these moments keep me from gnawing myself alive
when my heart folds into a grain of dust
inside this cold
howling
cage
