As the wind roared,
The curtains were drawn,
Another face did shrivel,
It was not a quite morn,
No anger was shown
But my frown did adhere
To my fixed old face-
A roar without cheer,
No clowns, nothing funny
But it danced around
Like bears in the circus,
And I didn't have a penny,
Come one, Come all
To join or flee-
The worst show on earth,
That has bestowed upon me,
Not a tear had I cried,
But my lips were sealed,
Then I silently awoke,
And my heart stood still.
Just a flash I did see,
So I shut my eyes,
And rested my feelings,
I cast them to the side,
I had danced with the devil,
And bid myself from harm,
And then my mind did ease...
I was faced with the calm.
