The sk**s continue to emerge from all regions. This month's selection comes to us from the home of the Rockets, the Oilers, and the Geto Boys. Born and raised in the heart of Houston, Texas (Acres Home), Deadly On Arrival is a two-man crew featuring MC Slim and Kool-Aid. Their mission is to let everybody know that "Texas ain't just cows and oil wells." Reflecting on their surroundings--the drug infestation, gang violence, and police brutality--D.O.A. delivers hardcore reality jams with heart. Their title cut, "Ever Man 4 Himself," explains that the only person you can count on 100% is yourself. The track uses that thick jazz ba**line that Main Source caught for "Just A Friendly Game of Baseball." Another jam called "Snakes" is a verbal attack on drug dealers over the cla**ic break from Big Daddy Kane's "Ain't No Half-Steppin'." Slim and Kool-Aid advise you to "watcha back for the cold-hearted snake."
D.O.A. kicks positive ideas from a ruthless perspective. They sum up their philosophy by simply stating, "Either be with us or be a victim."
