William Shakespeare has written many plays in his lifetime, but one of his best masterpieces was ‘The Tragedy of Julius Caesar'. This play portrays the life and hardships of the mighty Roman emperor Julius Caesar. Caesar might be the main character, but other very important characters in the play are Caius Ca**ius, Marc Antony, and of course, Marcus Brutus. Now, Marcus Brutus is an interesting character because he was a very dear friend to Caesar, but he was a part of his a**a**ination. In Shakespeare's play ‘Julius Caesar', Shakespeare depicts Brutus as a man who was a true hero, and as a man with strong ideas and morals.
Brutus was a close friend of Caesar, like a brother to him. If one were to notice how close they were, they would see that Brutus being so close to Caesar, Rome's hero, they might come to the conclusion that he could be a similar kind of hero as well. Only because of the fact that not just anybody can hang out with Caesar. “Let's carve him as a dish fit for gods, not a carca** fit for hounds…” (Brutus speech). I believe that, because the two were so close, Brutus believed he should be the one to tell everyone, a part of the a**a**ination, that they should k** him, just not in a horribly gruesome way. Brutus is a good character with good intentions, but he did something so devastating. It's true that he wants Caesar dead, but in a way where it won't seem too gruesome. “Do not dismember Caesar, but alas Caesar must bleed for it…...” (Brutus speech). This proves that Brutus understands what he's getting himself into when he has to k** Caesar, but he goes through with it because he believes it is the right thing to do.
When Brutus joined the band of a**a**ins, he realized what he was getting himself into, but he decided that it would be the right thing to do. He believed that it would be for the good of his people and the good of his government. “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more” (Doc. A). Brutus truly loves Rome as well as the people who live there. That's why he k**s Caesar, because he thinks it will benefit the empire. He thinks this, because the government officials believe that one person with too much power will eventually become out of control. Along with the fact that Caesar being the kind of person he is, a powerful general/war hero, is dangerous enough. This is proof that Brutus truly loves his people. “Brutus cautions against seeming too brutal, so thy can make the murder appear justified as being for the good of Rome” (Doc. A). This is proof that Brutus is really taking into consideration, the future of Rome. No matter how much of a brother Caesar is to Brutus, he still decides to k** him, because it' for the good of Rome.
In conclusion, Brutus is a very dedicated man. He's dedicated to his and people and his country. He deeply regrets k**ing Caesar, be he believed that it was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, within his sorrows, he committed suicide. But his people will forever remember him as a hero of Rome.
