I know the pools where Grayling rise
The trees with chestnuts railing
I know the woods where the red fox lies
The trees where dark owls call
I talk to stars, they come and go
Every night beneath the moon
I'm free from speech of the winds that blow
And the weather will sing their tune
And never will I die
Nor shall anybody grieve
In the green wood I will lie
My blood will never leave
I have no gold to call my own
There is no man I'd marry
I thank the Lord for this my home
With n'er a care to carry
I sow no seed, I pay no rent
I never mind to roam
For I have wealth that's never spent
The mistress of my own
And never will I die
Nor shall any body grieve
In the green wood I will lie
My blood will never leave
