I stand looking at a closed door
Wondering what is beyond it.
Frozen in fear
Unable to walk across the floor
My mind starts to ponder
Is it warm? Is it safe?
Does the sun shine?
My feet to the door do wonder
I reach out and touch the door
It opens, just slightly ajar
The light and warmth
Fill the dark dusky core.
Startled at the light
I stumble back and fall
But something catches me
As my fears take flight.
I stand looking at an open door
Wondering what is beyond it.
No longer frozen in fear
I walk across the floor
I've still many fears to face
Now I can face them
In the warmth of the sunshine
And in the safety of this place.
I step beyond the open door
I find my life
I've searched high and low
But it's always been beyond the open door
