Woke up playing Cool Spot
On a Sega emulator
Beat the first level
Found the cage and got the bonus round
Spent some time on JJ.AM
And played SimTower
And with absolute integrity
I avoided the shower
Then Mom came home and said
Just why are you still in bed
See technically I'm not unemployed
I kept the Wednesday shift
But six days out of seven
I've got nothing to do
Thank God I don't have bills to pay
Or I'd be on the streets by now
Miranda's stuck in Bathurst
And she's still stuck at school
And I don't write songs as much as I used to
And everyone's at uni
Or they're working full time
So this is the life
They warned me about
I dropped in my resume
At Blockbuster the other day
I wasn't very well presented
But I think I did OK
I went up to Macquarie
To further spread my resume
Ironically I went there
Just to send it from a net cafe
Which I could have done at home
But I'm glad I got out of the house
Cause this sort of thing
Can drive you mad if you let it
Cause six days out of seven
I've got nothing to do
Thank God I don't have bills to pay
Or I'd be on the streets by now
Miranda's stuck in Bathurst
And she's still stuck at school
And I don't write songs as much as I used to
And everyone's at uni
Or they're working full time
So this is the life
They warned me about
Wake up kid
You got the devil's disease
Probably everyone wants the
Same jobs that I do
I put in on the HMV site the other day
I applied for Warringah Mall
It would take me an hour
To get out there from where I live
But I could swing that if
I could land that kind of job
It'd suit me pretty well
And I can't help but think about that place
Open air, closed air
Indoors, outdoors
Dolphins jumping, kids in hoodies
The time that I met Sarah there
City kids who aren't quite in the city
Surfie kids who aren't quite at the beach
The summer breeze
And something leaves me empty
Something itches at me further
Something rolls around that place
I can't quite put my finger on
Like I had some good times there
In another life
That maybe someone else is living right now
And maybe I'll run into them somehow
