Hailey Bieber reveals 'very sad' time in relationship with husband Justin: 'We didn't speak'

Hailey Bieber is getting candid about her relationship with her husband Justin Bieber — including a rough patch where they didn't speak to one another.

During their joint appearance on the podcast "In Good Faith with Chelsea & Judah Smith" on Monday, the model, 24, confessed she did something that led to a period where she and the pop singer, 27, were not on good terms.

"It was actually very sad when we didn't speak," she said. "I did something that really hurt him, and I think that kind of maybe took that idea (of marrying me) out of his mind at that point."

Though Bieber didn't say specifically what she did, she said it was "something very immature and stupid."

"There was really one solidified moment where I think it damaged the idea of me for you," she told her husband on the podcast.

But even when she and Justin were "not cool with each other and didn't speak," Bieber says she never lost hope of one day marrying him, because of Justin's genuine desire to have a family.

"I just don't think that that (desire) is B.S., because he doesn't have to say that. That doesn't have to be what he wants," Bieber said. "But the biggest thing in his heart that he always wanted is that."

The couple also recalled a challenging period in their relationship when Justin was going through mental health challenges. During this time, Bieber said, she called her mother with doubts about her and Justin's future together.

"I was calling her, I was crying, and I was like, ‘I just can’t do it. There’s no way that I’m going to be able to do this if it’s going to be like this forever,' " she said, without revealing what Justin was dealing with. "She was so calm on the phone, and she was like, ‘It’s going to pass, and you’re going to be fine, and he’s going to be healthy, and we’re here for you.' "

Bieber also said support from her family has been crucial in getting through these difficult times.

"Imagine abandoning somebody in the middle of the worst time of their life potentially," she said. "I'm not that type of a person. I was going to stick it out no matter what the outcome was going to be."

This isn't the first time the Biebers have gotten candid about their relationship.

During her appearance in a September episode of "4D with Demi Lovato," the model sounded off on rumors that her husband is "not nice to her" and "mistreats" her, calling the allegations "big, fat" lies.

"There's so many narratives that float around about me, about him, about us together," Bieber told pop star Demi Lovato, who hosts the show. "It's so far from the truth, and it's the complete and utter opposite."

The couple became in engaged in July 2018 after reigniting their relationship a month earlier following years of on-again, off-again dating rumors. The two married quietly in Sept. 2018, and then held a ceremony with friends and family a year later.
