Upon their formation in 1995, brothers Matt Philleo (vocals, guitars, ba**, percussion, synthesizer) and Paul Philleo (vocals, lyrics) collaborated to experiment with a number of heavy metal genres that incorporate thrash, progressive, industrial, and alternative. Inspired by the likes of Alice in Chains, Savatage, and Dream Theater, Gage resulted not necessarily as a studio band, but more of a bedroom band that has recorded everything in their bedroom late at night. Although they haven't played a gig in their native hometown of Merrill, WI, they did release their first full-length, Rogues Gallery, in 1996. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
