Gabriela Claros - MonoMyth essay lyrics

The epic hero Monomyth is an important concept that is shown in Star Wars and Hungers Games. Katniss shows all the stages that she has to go through in order for her to become a hero and so does Luke Skywalker; but Katniss gets more detailed with it. They both provide a good role model for people to follow today. Luke Skywalker fulfills his epic monomyth by going through several stages. Luke was still a normal teenager. Luke still had a normal life; he still lived on the farm with his uncle. This is important because it shows Luke in the status quo stage of the monomyth. Luke was given a quest, Princess Leia sends out a message saying “help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope”. So Luke thought it was his duty to go and save the princess so he was given a quest to go too Adlerian. So that was when he accepted his call too adventure. The crisis of this story is when princess Leia, Luke, and Han were all trapped in the garbage disposal and they were in need of help. Katniss is a perfect example of the epic hero Monomyth. She was a normal teenager living in district 12 with her family. She is a regular teenager; she works and helps out her family a lot. This is important because it shows how wise and mature Katinss is and it also shows the status quo stage of the Monomyth. They were drawing names and they called Prim. But instead Katniss says “I volunteer as tribute”, to take the place of her sister Prim. Katniss thought it was her duty to volunteer, because she wasn't going to let her little sister get k**ed. This is when she accepted the call to adventure. The Result of this movie is when Katniss and Peter planned to die together, because they fell in love and they didn't want to k** each other. In my opinion Katniss is the hero that is the best role model for today. Katniss goes through more stages then Luke Sky walker. When Katniss volunteers for her sister Prim, Katniss volunteers to protect her little sister Prim. She was the first one ever to volunteer in the hunger games. Katniss is the realistic hero, hers actually happens and Luke's doesn't. She actually tries helping her family. Katniss tries to take them out of poverty, Luke just saves Leia. Katniss has to go through more trails, risk her life and avoid getting k**ed. When Katniss finds Peter, that can be the greatest treasure. Peter was hiding in the ground camouflaging with the trees and leaves. That's when she was looking for water and Katniss found him. She was so relieved that he was still alive. That's why I chose Katniss at the Monomyth hero. In conclusion both stories are a prime example of what an epic hero is, and shows how people would like to be like them. Luke goes through all the stages that show he's a hero. Katniss goes through the same process but in a more complex situation of becoming an epic hero.
