Built around premium selvedge denims from Italy and Japan, RAW Essentials is a complete seasonal menswear collection. Special emphasis is given to fabrics, ensuring that each piece is of the highest quality possible, in shades and finishes that push the boundaries of denim construction. The selvedge denims used combine the best of traditional denim construction with the latest dyeing and finishing techniques. Woven slowly on traditional looms, all denim in the collection has the rich surface quality and coloured selvedge edge found only in the finest of denims. This season, expert ageing is applied to heavy selvedge denims to create fadings and wear-marks that would normally take years to achieve. Combining a heavy weight with a soft hand-feel, they are ideal for the cooler winter months. Inspired by historic European workwear, an intense shade of blue known as mazarine also features across the collection. Unique to G-Star, mazarine blue is a double-dyed finish that wears down slowly to reveal a brighter base tone with time. With the original dyeing process lost over the centuries, G-Star designers created mazarine blue by combining archive materials with experimentation. The deep, intense blue is available in raw and aged qualities of both canvas and denim.
