The Genesis and Greek creation stories are both similar and different in how they use literary archetypes. Both the Greek and genesis creation stories utilize the villain archetype. “Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born”(Greek myth). Cronus lust for power drove him to swallow his children to prevent one of his kids from taking his throne. This proves that Cronus fits the role villain archetype. “You will not certainly die “the serpent said to the woman for god knows that when you eat form it your eyes will be open and you will be like god knowing good and evil”(Genesis) .The serpent want the woman to eat the fruit and disobey god the serpent succeed. These prove that the serpent is playing the role as the villain. These example se both stories using the villain archetypes. The Greek and Genesis creation stories are also contrast with they former having an epic battle or father son rivalry and latter a garden archetype .” Cronus grabbed his father and castrated him, with the stone sickle, throwing the severed genitals into the ocean”(Greek Myth). Cronus wanted the throne so him and Gae planned to ambush him. Cronus and his father really didn't see eye to eye and for that they became rivals for the throne God made all kinds of trees grow from the ground, trees beautiful to look at and good to eat”(Genesis). God made every kind of fruit tree for man to eat from . The garden was filled with tress all around and all had fruit to eat from. The Greek and Genesis creation stories are very much alike but they also are different one uses archetypes the other doesn't.
