Within The Shadows By Dustin S. Miller Revised By Kaylee N. Becker-George I can hear the shots whizzing past my head one after another, as I sprint and jump across the branches through the trees, the wind whistling in my ears. I shout back with a chuckle “Wait... aren't you supposed to hit me?” The officers in their blue and white uniforms slowly begin to fall behind. I halt to a stop and look around. I try to make out the white in their uniforms through the thick brush. I hear them shouting from off in a distance “This isn't over!” I reply quite co*ky, “I don't know it looks like it is, but for your satisfaction I'll try to run a little slower next time.” Not that it would do you much good. I think to myself. I jump down off the branches with just a slight rustle of leaves. As I start on my way home I hear a boom of thunder sounds as it starts to pour. I look up at the sky and I'm shadowed with a field of black clouds. I pull up my hood and head towards my cabin. I walk through the front door with a creak as I pull it open. I pull out this flat circular battery. I open my watch and open the battery pack. The watch relieves with cloud of steam rising above my head. I swat the steam away from the watch trying not to get it in my eyes. I take the old rusted battery out and replace it with the new one. Finally it should work properly now, I think to myself. I take one magnetic tiny circular from each corner of my square watch. I toss them on the side of the doorway and with a swipe of my watch it puts a projection. It's a map.
