A street light flickered A dimmed silhouette slid across a heavily graffitied wall Footsteps, barely audible above the whistling wind Descended upon the mansion by nightfall Then, a hooded figure emerged from the shadows fully illuminated by the lamp None other than Wasabi Jones The infamous thief who's unmatched artistry to go undetected has been marveled for decades to the likes of Sherlock Holmes A more iconic figure you won't find But he still remains a mystery to historians worldwide Wasabi was the most distinguished thief of all time But tonight was the start of a new chapter This was not for laughter This was going to test all the brilliance, all that uncanny ability Wasabi was going to explore the secrets of the Haunted Mansion Beyond the Village where explorers had been lost to unknown terrors Mysterious disappearances had been traced to without hesitation or error And tortured shrieks and eerie creaks could be heard on a nightly basis With a tiny glance backward and a quick swish of a cloak The thief set off toward the rusted gates, unaware of the horrors in store for him Wasabi crept silently through the gates, the late October wind whistling through his cloak. the great fortresses looming wall peered down at him A tiny bit of fear now crept over him He was careful to keep to the shadows and watch out for traps that could lead to an unpleasant surprise or a bloody demise Soon Wasabi reached the ancient stone mansion, eager to begin his quest He approached the great double doors that were the obvious entrance to the mansion's guests Wasabi suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. Someone or something had shifted some fifteen feet to his left An eerie silence followed , nothing daring to move or make a sound Then, as if waiting for a cue An arrow shot from an overhanging turret and hurtled toward the ground Traveling with unearthly accuracy; aimed for the thief Blood splattered from Wasabi's chest, the red barely visible in the darkness He was dead before he hit the ground at best Then, out of the shadows emerged a ma** of twenty or so ominous figures their evil eyes glinting with murder and their pointy hands clenched with fury The barbaric gargoyles closed in on the damaged body Preparing for the feast at hand
