The Genesis and Greek creation stories are both similar and different in how they use literary Archetypes. Both Greek and Genesis creation stories utilize the Villain Archetype. Cronus was scared of the foretell and try to prevent it from happening “Cronus swallowed each of his children” (Greek creation story). This proves that Cronus is filling the role of the villain. He wanted power and didn't want to be overthrown by his children. Also the Genesis story have a Villain Archetype. He wanted Eve look like the bad person “You won't die, God know that moment you eat that tree” (Genesis creation story). The serpent told Eve to eat the fruit, to trick her to betray God. The serpent told the truth that she will not die that she will become like God. These examples show both stories using the Villain Archetype. The Greek and Genesis creation stories also contrast, with the former having an Epic Battle or Father/Son and the latter a Garden Archetype. He was scared to be overthrown by one of his children “To avoid this Cronus swallowed each of his children as they were born” (Greek creation story). Zeus was sent to defeat his father and get his brothers out. Zeus gave Cronus a drink that he vomited the children. God wanted them to be safe “Then God planted a garden in Eden, in the east” (Genesis creation story). Eden has food and waters everything to survive. They don't know how to plant or grow food. This examples show both Greek and Genesis story are different.
