Not to be confused with the similarly named French art rockers from the 1970s, the American act known as Catharsis emerged a whole two decades later and played a very technical, progressive style of heavy metal. The band was also short-lived, but even though vocalist/guitarist Scott Fox, ba**ist Pete Cleary, and drummer Mike Nielson (later of power metal band Cage) released only one album in 1995's Pathways to Wholeness, this is now regarded as something of a lost cla**ic within the progressive metal genre. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
