We held hands as the night winds blew watching silently as the new moon rose Her reflection was broken by the ripples as she laughed, mixing the pool with her toes. Young love lusted for acceptance as we sang its melody there in the night Wondering if the pa**ing of time would bless us and hoping the shadows would keep us from sight. These were the images of yesterday as we groped our way to understanding One leading the other no-where as both sought pleasure without demanding. We sit on the porch now in a swing made with these older hands Watching all the young lovers as they stroll by, on their way to distant lands. Will they see the sights we've seen myself and this woman by my side Life has been a full package for us and at times, quite a ride. I see in her the girl I knew back then at the hidden pool Her eyes still hold that special twinkle even when I am boorish and act the fool. The years have left her unchanged and she still watches my face when I talk I think she sees reflections there of the far away lands we used to walk. I do not know who will be vacant first from this porch swing that we share But memories will surely sustain the other as ghostly figures, by a hidden pool, will forever dare.
