My father explained to me that when a fellow hit me, I couldn't hit him back because they would say we were bad and savage, so I had to stand to be knocked all around. On the other hand, I have never separated my work as an artist from my work as a human being. I've always put it even more strongly, that to me music is always a weapon.
Because of my political views, which I certainly did not expect in a democracy that I'd been prevented from exercising my craft, however I've kept singing all through the years.
