Tonie was sleeping alone in our bed,
With out any blanket or sheet
So I grabbed her a pillow, kissed her forehead
And covered those beautiful feet
I sat and I stared at the grey in her hair
and the years she had spent in my life
I feel the same as I did on that day
when I asked her to be my wife
We sang out Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Tonie was sleeping alone in our bed,
With out any blanket or sheet
So I grabbed her a pillow, kissed her forehead
And covered those beautiful feet
Well I love this old house where we've lived all these years
And we built with the blood from our hands
Gathering rocks as our children played near
And we laid them all out on our land
I sat and I stared at the grey in her hair
and the years she had spent in my life
I feel the same as I did on that day
when I asked her to be my wife
A woman of grace so peaceful her face
like the colors that shine in the fall
Made me believe that this girl here with me,
is the only woman I've known
We sang out Hallelujah
Hallelujah
We sang out Hallelujah
Hallelujah
