Cuts to a window on the second story outside of the hospital. A body comes flying through it, shattering the gla** and falling down into some trash. Camera cuts to the pile of trash and we see that it's Dakota. She's caught up in some blinds from the window she just crashed through. She walks to her car, still not having control of her hands. She attempts to open the car's door to no avail. After struggling, she stops and slowly puts her left hand completely into the handle. She raises her foot up to press in the bu*ton to release the door. As she kicks it in, she loses her footing on her other foot and falls to the ground. Her hand still caught in the door handle, breaks as she falls. She screams out as the door opens. She makes her way into the car. As she sits, an explosion happens outside. She gets the keys into the ignition using her mouth. She gets the car started and bites at her watch, which she hooks around the lever to put the car into drive. A man on fire slams into the side of her car and startles her, he runs around as she pulls away. We can see multiple people screaming and running around, as she's leaving the chaos, Wray and Sheriff Hague, with deputies hanging on the back of Wray's truck, are pulling in. People are still screaming and things are exploding all around.
Hague:
What the hell is going on?
Wray:
Are you gonna give me a gun?
Hague:
Are you f**ing kidding me?
Wray opens the glove compartment and takes out two bu*terfly knives. Wray sprints into the hospital, Hague and the other deputies surround the truck, not knowing where or who to aim at. Tolo opens fire on a patient who turns out to be healthy.
Hague:
God damn it. Let's sort this sh** out boys!
Tolo: (pointing at the recently shot patient)
(mutters in shock)
Hague:
Dumba**!
Tolo: (looking down)
Yeah.
We cut to Wray inside the hospital. He's putting on latex gloves.
Paramedic: (having his guts ripped out by zombies)
Not today! Not today! f**ing Wednesday nights!
Wray begins walking down the hallway. As zombies approach he slices them with his knives. He flips around the wall to avoid them, continuing to stab them as they pa**. He slices one of their throats and as its gushing blood into the air, Wray limbos underneath it. A hallway door opens as people are still running and screaming. Wray still stabs zombies as they pa**. He looks up and sees Cherry's boot in a doorway. He walks into the room, slowly approaching the bed where Cherry should by lying, he can hear her shivering underneath a blanket she's covered herself with.
Wray: (removing the cover)
Palomita?
Get up! We're leaving.
Cherry:
I can't walk.
Wray:
So what? Get up!
Wray attempts to lift her but she resists and shoves him away.
Cherry: (rips off the cover from her leg to expose her severed limb)
Motherf**er. Look at me! I was going to be a standup comedian! But who's gonna laugh now?
Wray: (rolling his eyes)
Some of their best jokes are about cripples. Let's go!
Cherry:
It's not funny, it's pathetic.
Wray:
Would you stop cryin' over f**in'... Spilled milk?
Cherry:
I have no leg!
Wray glares at her, quickly looks down at an end table and slams it to the ground, ripping off a leg. He shoves the table leg onto hers to form a peg leg.
Wray:
Now you do. What do you think?
The camera quickly cuts to the couple walking through the hallway, Cherry struggling to keep up with Wray, who is holding her by the arm.
Cherry:
You could carry me, Wray.
Wray:
Yeah? You never wanted that before. Why start now?
A zombie appears in front of them, Wray lets go of Cherry and sweep kicks the zombie, stabbing it as it falls to the ground. Cherry nearly falls over trying to keep her balance on her new leg. Wray rushes back to help her regain her footing.
Cherry:
This is f**ing ridiculous.
Outside, Cherry makes her way down a few steps as Wray quickly dispenses of two more zombies with his bu*terfly knives. The two make it to Wray's truck.
Wray:
Sheriff must've taken the others to JT's. Get in!
Cherry: (struggling to climb into Wray's truck)
Goddamnit, wait for me!
Wray starts the truck and begins pulling away with Cherry hanging on to the truck's door. She is forced to run with the leg a bit, eventually hopping into the cab. Now in the truck,
Cherry:
My leg's stuck in the door.
Wray:
It's just wood.
Cherry:
It's splintering.
Wray:
Would you just leave it alone?
Cherry:
Why is this happening to me?
Wray:
I don't know, just--just do me a favor right now and just… Stay strong.
Cherry:
“Stay”?
Wray:
Yeah, baby. Stay.
