The epic hero monomyth is still an important concept today because Luke Skywalker and Superman follow a pattern of steps and superman would be considered the best role model for today. Luke Skywalker is considered to be an epic hero monomyth by following the steps it takes to be considered a monomyth. For example, Luke is stuck on a farm living the same life he has lived since he was young. This would be considered his status quo do to Luke living a stable non adventures life. To further explain, Luke also has a call to adventure stage, which is the stage where the hero is introduced to a task. For example, Luke finds Ben Kenobi and Kenobi tell like about his father and destiny. He then asks Luke to accompany him on his journey. Luke has been given a task by Kenobi that may change his life forever. That makes this event the call to adventure stage. Luke Skywalker fulfills these steps which make him and his story an epic hero monomyth. Another hero who fulfills the epic hero monomyth is Superman. For example, like Luke superman has a call to adventure stage, when he finds his dads hologram the hologram tells Superman about who he is and about his life. This would be considered Superman's call to adventure and a**istance because superman now knows what he needs to do and his father's hologram is an older wiser person. To further explain, superman also goes through a departure stage. For example, when superman leaves his house he grew up in and says goodbye to his adoptive mother to face enemy. This shows that he is leaving his old life behind and is about to go on a life changing adventure. Superman is considered an epic hero monomyth do to his story following the stages that were explained.
Superman would be the best role model for today. For example, superman had the weight of deciding whether to save the earth and its people or joining his enemy who was from the same planet he was from. In the end he chose to save the earth. Unlike Luke, Superman's choice was up front and took him time to figure out. Luke jumped straight into solving what needed to be solved. This proves that through everything superman was still able to make the right decision. This also proves that Superman is the all-around better hero. Superman also had it harder on him because he couldn't save everyone when the earth was attacked. That meant that Supermans emotions come to surface when he sees people die at the hand of his enemy. Superman in a nutshell is the better hero. Ultimately, an epic hero monomyth determines the outlook of how the story will develop and end.
