Morgan McCashland Experiment 2 Performing an Activity: Being a Barista at the Universities coffee shop in the Union is no simple task. The lines can wind, and sprawl clear past your view if you're unlucky. The first task is figuring out an order requested by most of the time, a customer who has no time to waste. Once you have figured out there barking request you must then grab the pale white, and deep green “we proudly serve” coffee cup and without delay write down every detail of their intricate order. The permanent marker is every baristas best friend and the squeaky sound from the tip of the pen allows you to inhale the fresh branded ink now placed onto the pure white cup. The customer ordered a Carmel Macchiato, a drink with many steps to follow. Making sure the customer gets there moneys worth you must follow the process of making this drink with timely precision and detail. Step one; start to timidly pump three even pumps of Vanilla into the bottom of the bare coffee cup. The vanilla will spray remains of sticky clear liquid all over the bottom of the cup as well as all over the sides. This is when you must swiftly place the cup onto your espresso station. Things are starting to get pretty hot, you steam a steal cup of fresh milk until the noise is piercing and screaming to be released from the steamer. As soon as you hear that high-pitched scream you must begin making the espresso. This is the most important part of the entire drink. This dark, bitter tasting buzz can make or break somebody's day. As soon as the steamer finishes off with the now smoldering hot milk you must immediately pour the dark, shimmering espresso liquid on top of the foamed milk that is already poured into the coffee cup. As soon as the espresso hits the top of the foamy milk, magic occurs. The two starkly different liquids begin to fall into one another and create a mix of puffy white milk and the now maple brown espresso are what dreams are made of. Squeeze the thick caramel glaze atop the foam and espresso, while intricately creating whatever design your heart desires, then happily top it off with a cold, plastic lid and hand it off to the newly blissful customer.
