The Shih-tuz has a life span of 15 year or more.The Shih-tuz is also known as the lion dog. The Shih-Tzu is said to have descended from crossing the Tibetan mountain dog and Pekingese. The dogs were favorites of the Chinese royals and were so prized, so the Chinese refused to sell, trade, or give away any of the dogs. The Royals used the Shih-tuz as feet warmers when they went to sleep.
