Gale and Katniss agreed that if they where to die of hunger or take a bullet through the skull, they would choose to take a bullet because it is much quicker. When the clock strikes two it is time for the reaping. There has been a winner from District 12 back then and he is still alive. His name is Haymitch and he is a drink. If people tend to revel against the capital, they would destroy their district just like they did to district 13. It turns out Katniss's little sister Primrose Everdeen was chosen.

when Katniss heard her sisters name she didn't know what to do. Her muscles got tensed up and she felt that a boy grab her arm because she was about to fall. She then started yelling her sisters name and she could move again. She yelled out again and then she said that she volunteers as tribute. In district 12 no one ever volunteers, its like extinction.

Katniss walks up to the stage and Prim holds on to her. She yells at her to let go because she doesn't want to show weakness to the other competitors. The lady tells them to give her a round of applause. But there is only silence and everyone held their 3 middle fingers to their lips and then outward. It was a gesture that they used a long time ago and it means good-bye to a love one. She became a love person to the district and she didn't know. The lady then announces a boy name. Katniss was hoping it wasn't Gale and it wasn't. Peeta Mallark was chosen but Katniss also knew who he was.

There is a girl who made video tapes. Each one of them tells a story about a different person. Once the person hears about their story they pa** it on to the next person on the tape. The girl who did the tapes committed suicide because of the people on the tapes. But one of them she actually liked but he didn't know.

Kaniss met Peeta years ago but they dont talk or live near each other. It was one of the worst times in their district. Katniss's dad pa**ed away and she had to hunt for food. She was sitting outside in the rain. Peeta came out with two burnt loafs of bread. Katniss thinks he burned them on purpose so he could give it to her.
