Isabella is the beautiful one
I am so proud to know her
so proud to have bathed together
in our grandmother's sink
when we were the size of
footballs
We go everywhere together
When we went to Buckhannon
we both wrote our first poems
When we went to Wichita
we both fished with canes
but when we went to Pismo
she went into the water
I was afraid of drowning
Isabella is the beautiful one
I am always looking for God
something to force the tears
from my bramble skull
When we went to Pismo
I took off my shoes
I walked back and forth
communicating with seagulls
She was surfing with our father
One of us is still
football sized
