In my studies I'd encountered
Nothing quite like what was right above me
Mysteries and floating lights and pious company
The likes of which remain unknown
Among the intellectuals
It set upon me now
The ship had gone to bow
Four thousand feet above the sea
Blackness and I fought against the day
Celestial bodies watching silent in their cold parade
Spiral in and spiral out
The stress, confusion, and the doubt
The dream was coming true
I disappeared into the blue
They looked high and they looked low
They searched the sky and in the depths below
Wondering whether something was at play they didn't know
And on the course from Melbourne people witnessed from the southern shore
Strange majestic flight
The darkened craft have taken flight
Years had pa**ed, and off and on
There were no more answers, only questions
And everything was subject to debate and speculation
But in the balustrade all alone
Among the rag and bone
I'm sitting waiting for the lights
To bring me home
