In the constellation of Orion
In the middle of the sword he wears
There appears to the eye a fuzzy star
Telescopes display what is really there
A ma**ive nebula of gas and dust
Illuminated by four shining stars
The stellar winds disturb the gas and dust
New stars surrounded by ecresian disks
On a planet in this stellar system
All the wildlife lives underground
Because the heat from The Trapezium
Would blind their eyes and desicate their mouths
But one of the creatures dreams of brighter days
He gradually begins to dig upwards
Up towards the heat, up towards the light
To get a glimpse of the blazing red sky
Over one milenia in the past
A supernova explosion in space
Illuminates the night sky on earth
The new star in the sky lasted three days
It left an elegant field of debris
Like a crab for those who can see
A light blinks like a strobe in the night
It is a swiftly spinning pulsar
A dangerous radioactive dance
Perpetually spinning disco light
The neutron star turns impossibly fast
Flying through space incredibly bright
On a planet that somehow survived
The radiation should k** all the life
But a few microbes learned to adapt
And use the radiation to survive
Light years from our stellar system
On a planet near a star like our sun
There lives a peaceful civilization
Every individual lives as one
There is no war for they do not fight
No one is above another
And they persevere to do what is right
And never question the ancient writings
For thousands of years it has been this way
The priests endeavor to help every soul
And the less than fortunate are helped by
Those that can give a little more
And every night all the planet prays
For rejuvenation the next day
And they never question the hows or whys
Of the giant eye that crosses the sky
