Well in this essay I'm going to explain how Luke Skywalker from Star wars and Katniss Aberdeen fulfill the epic hero monomyth, I'm going to compare how they both are the same and actually different because as you can see epic heroes needs to fulfill some achievements to fill the epic hero monomyth; such as a call to adventure a**istance by an older and wiser men or woman, departure when he or she leaves their house or place of residence, trials such as overcome problems, approach such as fighting against their worst enemy, crisis when she or he actually appears to be defeated and more both in order to a character to be considered as a hero it needs to fill those steps such as Luke and Katniss did in their own ways.
Luke: Luke fulfills the hero monomyth in many ways because he gets a**istance; he gets call to adventure by a message from princess Leia so he gets his call to adventure, he leaves his normal
life(departure) because he leaves the farm where he lives in order to go with Obi one to fight against Darthvader , Luke fulfills the epic hero monomyth in my personal opinion because he is a real hero, he leaves his life, got a call to adventure , he overcomes obstacles, he returns home as hero, and after all that happened he comes back to a new life.
Katniss: Katniss fulfills the hero monomyth because she overcomes trials, she leaves her home to go to the capitol and after she overcome all the trials she comes back home as a hero, Katniss receives her call to adventure when her sister is call by the capitol to go fight but she won't let her go so she volunteers as tribute to go to the capitol and fight for her, she leaves her normal life because she needs to go fight against all those other teenagers in the hunger games.
Luke and Katniss: Luke and Katniss they both fulfill the epic hero monomyth in their own way, but they both have a change in their life that's what make them fulfill the hero monomyth, they both get a call to adventure, departure they both leave their home, they both overcome trials, they both come through a crisis so they are pretty similar but different at the same time, they both are epic heroes because of the situation they are into.
As you can see Luke and Katniss have very similar type of ways that they are called to adventure, but they for sure fulfill the epic hero monomyth because of the situations they are putted into their own stories, so what we can conclude is that they both are epic heroes who fulfill all the situations in order to be consider as one. In my personal opinion they are both good examples of the epic hero monomyth. There is no one better than the other one to me.
