[Verse 1: Ill Poetic]
"Don't let that ground wear you down," said my Heart to my Feet
Yeah I can feel them jeans sagging, they drag on the concrete
"The sky is a lie," said my Eye to my Heart
So my Heart told my Feet, "Grip that street like cleats"
Now, "Your neighborhood is dying," said the news to my Ears
So my Ears told my Eyes, "Stay closed"
And since that news told my Ears that we scared to die quick
My Ears told my body, "Die slow"
"Sip on this," said depression to our Lips
"Inhale this" said depression to our Nose
"Inject this," said the pusher of the dope
And the dope told our Veins, "Stay froze"
And so I did what they said though my Heart disagree
And it never told my Mouth how it felt
So it sent a little message to my Feet on day
And said, "Follow me quick about this hell"
With my Hands to my Ears, my Eyes still closed
The blood in those Veins now running like my Toes
My Body hopped a bus about the city that it loved
And left a piece of its Soul in the road
