DAVID FARRELL MELTON
Capitol Hill
The president gave his people the cue
To march down Pennsylvania Avenue
Knowing full well they were ready to fight
And that a riot he was sure to incite
Now you can call it treason or call it a coup
But clearly he’s got more than one loose screw
So quickly before something big explodes
Someone take away his nuclear codes
‘Cause the police were standing still
If it was Black Lives Matter they’d be shooting to kill
And they knew it wasn’t a drill
When confederate flags were on capitol hill
There’s a senator with his fist in the air
He thinks the election wasn’t fair
But how the hell did he got his job
Now look at him cheering on an angry mob
Of Neo-nazi proud boys
Who think their guns are children’s toys
It’s hard believing in the law
After seeing what we all saw
Cause the police they were standing still
If it was Black Lives Matter they’d be shooting to kill
Still blood it was surely to spill
When confederate flags were on capitol hill
We all have the right to freedom of speech
And we don’t have to be a pastor to preach
But If hatred and lies are the message you spread
Eventually somebody will end up dead
And we saw it coming a mile away
America it was on full display
And the rest of the world held its applause
When democracy was put on pause
Cause the police they were standing still
If it was Black Lives Matter they’d be shooting to kill
And it gave everybody a chill
When confederate flags were on capitol hill
