My zip code is inferior,
The think tanks all ignore it,
The antique hunters zoom on by,
They'd rather not explore it.
We don't have rapid buses,
People movers, monorail—
We only have our shoes and socks
And feet and yellow nails.
We only have one gallery,
It opens twice a day
For something like an hour
As the sun goes on its way.
Our schools won't teach you nothing,
But hey, we keep ‘em full.
Is that the first requirement
To be sustainable?
No one from the city's bought
A house since who knows when,
But maybe we can lure 'em
If we raise the tax again.
So much to do, so much to fix,
We're working round the clock
To zap some life into our town,
To get a culture shock.
