There was a virgin land that must have been God's Eden
Off the fruits of nature, the people there were eatin'
A peaceful land, though full of many nations
They lived in harmony with all of God's creations
And then the white man came with all his greed and evil
And cleared away the land to build his mighty steeple
Took their homes away while he was preachin'
The love of his God the people he was teachin'
And he taught them:
Thou shalt not k** or steal or lie
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife
Thou shalt not know other gods before Me
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
His laws were good, though we never did live by them
His lust for gold destroyed all the good within him
Treaties were made, but soon they all were broken
And the people became just a picture on his token
He gave the ___ lands to them for reservations
He even had a race enslaved on his plantations
Because of this, the white men fought each other
Blue and gray turned brother against brother. Still he taught them:
Thou shalt not k** or steal or lie
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's land
Thou shalt not know other gods before Me
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
Hypocrisy became his way of living
Taking what he wanted, with no though of giving
He placed himself above his mighty steeple
Naming himself as savior for all people
Progress became his greatest enemy
This plentiful land was raped from sea to sea
Our children to come must reap the spoils of lust
Of the people with the motto: "In God we Trust".....
