"What kind of story you trying to tell?"
(Verse 1)
No stopping me
The child prodigy
Awards and competitions
None of my peers a top of me
I found the words of power
I sat alone for hours
I let the knowledge pour
Kids were playing basketball
I just went and read some more
Best of all
Left it all behind
Every time
I began reading a page
Went to another world in my mind
Despite the young age
These images were vivid
If I read it
I lived it
co*ky little kid
Cause I knew that I was gifted
Still was so shy
Always kept my distance
And I read all the time but when I spoke no one listened
Maybe some teachers did
But I was just a kid
I needed validation
That's when I started changing
That's when we moved down south
That's where I found my Bible
I put away my books
I tucked away my idols
And I changed
(Verse 2)
I started writing rhymes
Not just some of the time
I did it every day
Read a verse then wrote away
One day I came to a pa**age that said turn the other cheek
The kingdom of God would belong to the meek
I followed suit directly
Hoping that God would bless me
I let my foes test me
Bully and beat me
Fight and jump me
They found it funny
When I just prayed
I started slipping with the grades
I was distracted by the hazing
I started putting emotions to the page and
After that I was never really the same, then
I got my first job
I started getting paid
My parents bought a house
That's when we moved away
“Shouldn't you rest now?”
“I want to read some more.”
“Ok fine.”
“You can change the world, if you choose to.”
