A familiar voice resounded
From an effigy so tall
Decaying moonlight shrouded
Face carved both great and small
Alone and yet surrounded
Shivering I stood to wait
Wooden eyes stared, still unchanged
Faces starved both small and great
And a totem was raised where
the green Earth meets the grey sky. . . .
A symbol of power, I need its shelter
A light in the dim North, where coldness can crush you
Carve my face in Earths grand totem
A monument praising our heathen crescendos
To trust in its wisdom is to trust in myself
Carve my face in Earths grand totem
Faces starved both small and great
Wooden eyes stared still unchanged
Shivering I stood to wait
Alone and yet surrounded
Faces carved both great and small
Decaying moonlight shrouded
From an effigy so tall
A familiar voice resounded
Carve my face in Earths grand totem
